There are many opportunities to be involved in theatre for dedicated Buena students. Buena puts on a minimum of four shows a year including two straight plays, a variety show and a musical. Any Buena student may audition to be a part of a production.

Theatre Performance I-  Introduces all fundamental aspects of acting, performing and theatre.  Principals, techniques, theories, and terminology, as well as, analysis of the nature of theatre, its origin and development, the physical theatre and the various artistic components, which “collaborate” to create theatre.  Students gain understanding through exploration of the various techniques and theories of acting styles. 

Advanced Theatre Performance- In depth study of the creative elements in theatre, rooted in ensemble building.  Develops aesthetic literacy and critical thinking using acting, interpretation, writing, improvisation, directing and reflective writing.  Students will workshop to construct meaning through the study and skill development of theatre techniques in the creation theatre.

Theatre Production Studio- Laboratory for the exploration, development, and synthesis of all of the elements of theatre.  Using knowledge gained through the study of theatre, students focus on solving the problems faced by actors, directors, designers and technicians and refine their abilities to collaborate on performances.  Practical experience in theatre arts is developed through rehearsal and public performance.  The production studio is an upper-level course providing for the integration and implementation of those ideas and skills studied in Theatre Performance and Theatre Technology.

Theatre Technology I- Introduces all fundamental aspects of theatre technology and production.   Principals, techniques, theories, and terminology, as well as, analysis of the nature and purpose of theatre, its origin and development, the physical theatre and the various artistic components, which “collaborate” to create theatre.  Students broaden their understanding through hands on exploration of the elements of theatre production. 

Advanced Theatre Technology-  In depth study of the theatre technology with skill and creative development to and for all types of performance medias.  Students work in and on productions and the theatre space.  This class forms the technical support staff for the Buena Performing Arts Center, all school productions and contracted events.

Theatre Production Studio-  Laboratory for the exploration, development, and synthesis of all of the elements of theatre.  Using knowledge gained through the study of theatre, students focus on solving the problems faced by actors, directors, designers and technicians and refine their abilities to collaborate on performances.  Practical experience in theatre arts is developed through rehearsal and public performance.  The production studio is an upper-level course providing for the integration and implementation of those ideas and skills studied in Theatre Performance and Theatre Technology.
